Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I performs various functions in the drug distribution, sterile product preparation, medication packaging, and patient billing under close observation and general supervision of the pharmacist and direct supervision of the Director of Pharmacy Services. Technician fills medication cassettes with accuracy and appropriate medications according to medication profiles created by the pharmacist. Technician prepares intravenous solutions with additives under the direction of supervising pharmacist to assist in daily process of IV admixture distribution.

Qualifications
Education/Certification/Experience Required:

Must be a High School Graduate and must be Registered with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
Must demonstrate familiarity with unit dose, IV Admixture, computer applications, and general pharmacy knowledge pertaining to drug distribution.
Must have a valid California State Board of Pharmacy License that is in good standing.

Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Requires the ability to speak and write English fluently. Should be familiar with Joint Commission requirements and standards. Organizational, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills are essential. Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Interpret and understand written prescriptions, formulas, and other pharmaceutical information. Able to work under the supervision of Staff Pharmacists as indicated by the Director. Prepares, compounds, dispenses medications as ordered. Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, medical ethics, quality assurance.

Pay range: $20.15 - $25.82

Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience
