Job Summary
Under the direction of the Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse, is responsible for observing the patient and reporting observations to the RN/LPN to protect the patient from injury or harm to themselves or others and to prevent elopement.
Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor patients to ensure their safety and promptly identify behaviors that may lead to self-harm, harm to others, or elopement.
- Observe and document patient behaviors, conditions, and changes and accurately communicate observations to the Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Provide one-to-one patient supervision as assigned to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Assist in preventing patient injury and elopement by remaining alert, following established safety protocols, and reporting potential risks immediately.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to support patient care plans and ensure timely intervention when safety concerns arise.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred:
- Education: Enrollment in a professional nursing school with completion of fundamentals of nursing (lecture and clinical), and currently in first year of clinical rotation.
