Job Summary

This role provides leadership and operational oversight for Perioperative Services and Physician Assistant Operations across the organization. The position is responsible for supporting the strategic, clinical, and operational performance of the Operating Room, PACU, Same Day Surgery, Endoscopy, and Physician Assistant teams. The role assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating operational and clinical processes to ensure safe, efficient, and patient centered care. The position maintains accountability for quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, staffing effectiveness, physician and provider engagement, and resource management within assigned departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct leadership and oversight of Perioperative Services, including Operating Room, PACU, Same Day Surgery, Endoscopy, and other assigned procedural areas.
  • Provides administrative leadership and operational oversight of Physician Assistant services across assigned specialties and service lines.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nursing leadership, anesthesia providers, physician assistants, and hospital leadership to optimize patient care delivery and operational performance.
  • Supports strategic planning initiatives, growth opportunities, and service line development for procedural and surgical services.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, licensing, and organizational standards.
  • Develops, monitors, and achieves departmental quality, patient safety, patient experience, and operational performance goals.
  • Oversees staffing plans, scheduling practices, productivity management, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Assists in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and professional development of physician assistants and departmental staff.
  • Monitors departmental budgets and financial performance, identifying opportunities for operational improvement and cost management.
  • Promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, collaboration, patient safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Serves as a liaison between hospital administration, medical staff, physician assistants, and clinical departments.
  • Participates in organizational committees, leadership councils, and performance improvement activities.
  • Assumes 24/7 accountability for assigned departments and services.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, Physician Assistant Studies, or related healthcare field.
  • Minimum Experience: Five years of progressive leadership experience in hospital operations, perioperative services, procedural services, or physician assistant management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary clinical teams in a hospital environment.
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative operations, regulatory requirements, quality improvement, and patient safety principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing leadership, and hospital administration.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field.
  • Current Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse, or other clinical licensure, where applicable.
  • Experience managing physician assistant programs or advanced practice provider operations.
  • Experience leading multiple procedural or surgical service lines in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other performance improvement certification preferred.
