Billing Specialist for Carondelet Call Center

Serves as next level support resource (Tier 2) to call center agents for patient cases regarding complex physician billing issues.
The person must possess the skill to effectively assist patients with sensitive and confidential issues, while understanding our obligation to our organization to collect outstanding patient balances. The case resolver should be able to handle multiple tasks along with setting appropriate priorities with patient information.

- Mentors existing Tier 1 Call Center agents and new hires through increasingly complex billing situations.
- Case Resolver will make primarily outbound calls to payers and patients following up on resolutions to issues. Occasionally may answer inbound customer service calls during peak times.
- Returns or follows up on calls timely and professionally without drops/abandons.
- Ascertain the reason for the call and assist the caller with their questions, concerns or problems with the focus on first call resolution. Facilitate resolution by referring the matter to the issue/content expert when necessary.
- Escalate the matter to a supervisor, request the appropriate information or take appropriate action effectively resolve the matter in order to address the caller’s issue timely and professionally.
- Work within the call center’s telephone software & equipment and the organization’s billing software
- Attend any team meetings as required (virtual).
Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience preferred to perform the job.
- High School degree or equivalent required
- At least 1 year experience in an insurance follow-up role or related experience (i.e. processing claims for insurance companies)
- Previous experience in a call center environment preferred
- Previous experience with medical billing systems preferred; Athena and EPIC a plus

- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
- Able to speak on the telephone and wear a headset for prolonged periods.
