Inventory Control Tech I FT Days Position Summary
Receive, process, and stock supplies and equipment and maintain inventories. Clean and disinfect equipment. Distribute supplies and equipment throughout user departments.
Responsibilities
Level 1 – Skilled (meets Competency Based Skills Checklist Assessment)
Perform inventory control procedures. Rotate stock and verify shelf life. Check for outdated supplies.
Use inventory book to check assigned area.
Check on hand stock against set par levels.
Bring down excess items and credit account.
Straighten items on shelves/bins.
Create requisition in Meditech. Demonstrate/use “JSPD” for most items and demonstrate/use “JIV” for all fluids.
Print/pull items from picklist.
Adjust item quantities/issues in Meditech.
Close requisitions when complete.
Re-stock assigned area with items pulled.
Rotate stock, “First In, First Out”.
Verify expirations, pull expired items from use.
Clean & set up equipment (using appropriate PPE): IV Pump (plug in), PCA Pump (plug in), food pump (plug in), SCD Machine, commode, heat pumps, seizure pads, portable suction machine, dialysis (CAPD) cart, fluid warmer, hypothermia machine.
Charge units for equipment using Meditech.
Re-stock equipment using par levels (bring excess equipment to SPD).
Check sterile tray cabinet and take back any trays to work area.
Demonstrate knowledge of chemical safety, spill and response.
Check and document refrigerator temperatures.
Check/fill/close ancillary requisitions in Meditech.
Look up items in Meditech.
Pull/deliver other department orders.
Issue and return items in Meditech.
Take phone messages and follow through with requests.
Assist customers at window.
Ensure equipment is properly bagged/tagged/initialed.
Restock code carts as needed and restock urology cart as needed.
Issue sign-in badges to vendors.
Call for rental equipment. Document call; get reference number annotate date/time.
Call rental company to pick-up/exchange broken equipment.
Provide assistance in storing warehouse deliveries.
Maintain warehouse cleanliness (break down boxes, remove pallets, take cardboard to crusher, etc.).
Level 2 – Proficient (in addition to above duties)
Assist in the development and assessment of the inventory procedures. Assist in the selection of equipment, supplies, and other resources for departmental operation.
Demonstrate effective use of resources.
Level 3 – Subject Matter Expert (in addition to above duties)
Lead and support in revising processes and procedures. Participate in quality improvement measures within the department.
Assist in training new staff within department.
Provide information to Manager for fiscal and budgetary operations.
THE INVENTORY CONTROL TECH I FT DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
Education
Required: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
Preferred: Central Service technical training
Experience
Preferred: 1 year as central service technician or materials handler
Skills
Required: Good reading and writing skills, good organization skills, good lifting and back care techniques.
Preferred: Proper care and handling of sterile items, proper hand washing techniques.
Knowledge
Preferred: Inventory stocking and distribution systems
Technology
Preferred: Materials management computer skills.
Required: Must be able to work variable shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.
