Job summary: We have 4 available extern positions for students entering their final semester of Nursing School.
Under the direct supervision of the RN and in accordance with the State Board of Nursing Practice, Nurse Extern II will be provided hands-on experience to prepare them for an accelerated Nurse Residency Program.
Nurse Extern II is a non-productive employee assigned to an experienced RN each shift.
- Non-Productive hours may not exceed 48-hours per month (to total 288 hours maximum during program)
- May work additional hours in productive labor with patient care assistant or equivalent responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Entering or in their final six months prior to graduation from an accredited school of nursing. A letter of recommendation from nursing faculty is required with application.
- Interview and have a PRN position commitment from the Extern Program and unit leader with a minimum commitment of 24-hours per month.
- Complete hospital orientation an all onboarding requirements.
- All competencies must be validated.
- Remain in good standing with employment requirements to be eligible for transfer into the Nurse Residency Program upon graduation.
