Job Duties:

  • Follows the multidisciplinary, goal oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with members of the health care team and provides care based on that plan.
  • Adheres to EMC practices for pain management with specific consideration of patient's functional/development age, gender, cultural, and/or personal preferences.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of restraints.
  • Ensures patient safety by assessing and proactively implementing safety measures with specific consideration of patient's functional and development age.
  • Competent in all routine skills within the patient care tech scope of practice including, but not limited to (1) assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, feeding, ambulating, toileting, (2) safe use of any medical equipment, (3) measurements of vital signs, weights, calorie count, intake and output, and (4) performing EKG's.
  • Assists in care of the patient during admission, transfer, discharge, and/or death. Performs ongoing observations of the patient and reports abnormal findings to RN.
  • Assist nurses in maintaining integrity of patient belongings.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide care in emergency situations and follows established emergency.
  • Completes legible, accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care provided to patients.
  • Provides care and performs observations of all age groups of patients that demonstrate knowledge and consideration of age specific and cultural differences. Modifies care to meet the age specific requirements of the newborn (0 to 31 days), infant (31 days to 1 year), pediatric (1 to 12 years), adolescent (13 to 17 years), adult (18 to 70), and geriatric (71+ years) patients, including but not limited to, patient safety, and special physical and psychosocial needs.
  • Accepts assignments in hospital units for which qualified through completion of unit specific checklist. Additional responsibilities and skills will be dependent on completion of appropriate orientation and validation of competency.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly working environment (bedside stands, trash, suction canisters, pantry, blanket warmer, utility room, stuffs charts, and files information).
  • Patient procedures per unit specific skills checklist
  • Assist the department with basic clerical duties, such as directing visitors and responding to call lights.
  • Provides for the hygiene of the assigned patient population, within the guidelines set forth in the policies and procedures. Gives all types of baths personal hygiene (including oral and peri-care). Changes linen as necessary for patient's condition to the RN.
  • Performs specimen collection.
  • Responds promptly and courteously to patient needs throughout the shift, participates in hourly rounding, answers lights and responds immediately to request from any patient.
  • Promptly reports patient complaints to shift manager or department manager.
  • Gathers information and reports any need for medications, laxatives, pain medication, sleeping meds.
  • Meets the nutritional needs of the patient by preparing patient for meals, early trays, passes water and trays, and assist with feedings.
  • Maintains the patient's skin integrity by ambulating, positioning, turning or transporting patients using proper mode of transportation and good body mechanics. Asks for help when needed. Reports information regarding patient's skin condition and orientation level.
  • Demonstrates noise reduction efforts in the department, and assists in maintaining traffic control in the department.
  • Ensures patient safety to neonatal, infant and pediatric by monitoring infant security device.
  • Responsible for adhering to regulatory requirements and hospital specific measures.
  • Access medication/supply room areas in order to re-stock supply items in applicable departments.
  • Responsible for facilitating communication between patients, patient families, staff, physicians and ancillary departments.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Shift Manager of the assigned area, the Nursing Assistant (NA) performs duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN)/Charge Nurse. Responsible for providing high quality individualized basic care activities within the Nursing Assistant scope of practice. Accepts assignments in hospital units for which qualified through completion of unit specific checklist.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school graduate or GED preferred
  • Experience:3 months skilled nursing or hospital experience preferred
  • Certification:
    • Current BLS certification
    • Certified Nursing Assistant certification required or current transcript of 2nd semester nursing student when hired or transferred into position

Salary: $24.00 - $24.66 hourly **Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience
