Department: Environmntl Svcs
Responsible for site direction of environmental services assigned staff performing cleaning and/or project work at the medical center and associated locations. Monitors environmental services program to ensure that buildings are maintained in a safe, clean and operationally effective condition.
Responsibilities
• Provides essential day-shift leadership and oversight to ensure EVS operations run safely, efficiently, and without disruption during the hospital’s busiest hours.
• Directly manages staffing, scheduling, attendance, daily work assignments, and employee performance to maintain productivity and accountability.
• Ensures patient rooms, discharge rooms, and high-risk areas are cleaned and verified according to hospital and infection prevention standards.
• Maintains compliance with CDPH, The Joint Commission (TJC), and hospital policies through ongoing monitoring, documentation, and staff training.
• Prevents operational gaps that would otherwise shift critical responsibilities to the Director and existing staff, increasing the risk of delays, reduced oversight, regulatory findings, and impacts to patient care.
Qualifications
- Significant environmental services experience in healthcare environment required (usually 3-5 years).
- Previous experience in a lead or supervisory position required (usually 2 years).
- Knowledge of hospital infection control, sanitation protocols and cleaning methods required.
- Management skills, including interviewing, organizing, planning, and problem solving skills required.
- A.A. degree or 2 years of college r equivalent experience preferred.
- Association for the Healthcare Environment, (AHE), or International Executive
- Housekeepers Association (IEHA) Certification preferred.
