POSITION SUMMARY

The primary role of the Bariatric Coordinator is the coordination of care for bariatric surgery patients and management of ongoing quality measures related to bariatric surgery outcomes. This includes Bariatric program development, patient and staff education, as well as oversight of multidisciplinary teams and acting as the liaison between the hospital and surgical practice.

Qualifications

Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications 

Education:

Minimum: Minimum education required for Florida RN licensure. Preferred: BSN

Minimum Experience

Registered Nurse - licensed in the State of Florida. AHA BLS Certification CBN Certification

EXPERIENCE: Three years + experience in the management of a bariatric program that includes proficiency in program development, insurance and marketing experience.

Three to five years of clinical nursing experience, nursing management experience of quality management, case management or discharge planning

Working Conditions:  Subject to normal working conditions. Some weekends and evening hours required.

  1. Frequently required to sit for long periods (>1hour)
  2. Frequently required to operate computers
  3. Frequently required to move freely about office
  4. Frequently required to lift 5 pounds or less
  5. Constantly required to concentrate, make decisions, have public contact, and deal with stressful situations
  6. Constantly required to hear/speak in person, on the phone, and occasionally on the public address system
  7. Occasionally required to lift up to 5 to 30 pounds.
  8. Occasionally required to lift, move or turn patients.
  9. Constantly required to communicate with patients and staff.
  10. Ability to write and speak English
