Position Summary

The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for administering direct and indirect patient care to an assigned group of patients who are scheduled for Endoscopic procedures.
The Endoscopic Technician assists physician during a wide variety of endoscopic procedures. Functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and assists nursing personnel as needed. Provides patient care as part of a multi-disciplinary team based on national standards, and utilizing the nursing process. The Endoscopy Technician participates in process improvement, professional education, committees and meetings to maintain competence and advance the mission and values of Good Samaritan Medical Center. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: High School Graduate or GED
  • Experience: None
  • License: None
  • Certifications: Current BLS certification

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience: One year Medical-Surgical Patient Care Technician experience

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses physical, psychosocial, and growth and development needs of the patient, reports pain level to nursing as appropriate, provides comfort measures as appropriate, the employee, through performance, has demonstrated competency (i.e., knowledge, skills and the ability to respond to age specific needs of the patient - physical, mental, emotional and developmental).
  • Develops a plan of care using assessment data and provides teaching and guidance to patient and/or family as well as staff members.
  • Implements plan of care for assigned duties and communicates and documents patient activities, needs and assessments.
  • Evaluates job responsibilities and completes assignments
  • Demonstrates leadership skills, assists other department/patient care units, and is fiscally responsible

  • License: None
  • Certifications: Current  BLS certification
     

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience: One year Medical-Surgical Patient Care Technician experience
