- Performs decontamination procedure according to policy.
- Performs sterilization procedure according to departmental policy.
- Performs and oversees clerical functions related to maintenance of logbooks, inventory, and trays.
- Maintains Patient care Equipment
- Provides Professional Leadership and Direction to Staff.
Full Time Evenings
Performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. Maintains supplies and equipment for use in patient care. Monitors supply inventory and par levels. Ensures all log books are kept up to date, generates instrument orders, and coordinates with department managers to ensure that instrument trays/count sheets are kept current. Works in coordination with OR/OB/Cath Lab personnel to ensure accuracy of instrument trays.
Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned or required.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent; Able to effectively read, write and communicate in English; Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Experience:
2-3 years’ experience, current basic and specialty surgical instrument handling skills/knowledge.
Desired: 5 years or more experience.
Certifications:
Preferred Certified technician but not required, must have previous SPD experience or education in SPD.
