Job Details
- Reports for scheduled shift on time and prepared to assume responsibilities.
- Attends and participates in meetings and is responsible for information communicated at meetings.
- Adheres to Corporate, Regional, hospital and departmental policy and procedure 100% of the time.
- Assists all patients, family members, physicians, visitors and employees in a professional and courteous manner.
- Follows Infection Control procedures at all times.
- Adheres to the Safety Policies and Procedures, the use of MSDS sheets, Hazardous Material procedures, and Safety Codes.
- Demonstrates adequate knowledge of Security issues, i.e., personal protection, protection of personnel and hospital property.
- Adheres to the following environmental care standards. Demonstrates adequate knowledge of Safety Policies and Procedures, the use of MSDS sheets, Hazardous Material procedures, and Safety Codes.
- Demonstrates the ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations.
- Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster. Responsible for knowing the Hospital’s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.
- Complies with all policies and procedures that pertain to HIPAA including the minimum necessary requirements for this job position.
Qualifications
EDUCATION.
- Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous Patient Care Technician experience preferred.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE/REGISTRATION:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) or E.M.T. or documented evidence of successful completion of an accredited nursing school program.
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) – 90 days from hired date
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- None required.

Summary
A Patient Care Technician is responsible and accountable for assisting the RN or LPN in the provision of patient care and tending to the personal care needs of the patient as directed by the RN or LPN, as well as functioning as a unit secretary. Unit Secretary duties include, but are not limited to, the transcription and data entry of physician orders, retrieving patient information, maintaining patients' data records, answering phones, taking and reporting messages, running errands, delivery and pick up of specimens and supplies, as well as ordering and restocking of unit supplies.
