Description

Summary:

Performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. Maintains supplies and equipment for use in patient care. Monitors supply inventory and par levels. Ensures all log books are kept up to date, generates instrument orders, and coordinates with department managers to ensure that instrument trays/count sheets are kept current. Works in coordination with OR/OB/Cath Lab personnel to ensure accuracy of instrument trays.

Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

2-3 years’ experience, current basic and specialty surgical instrument handling skills/knowledge.  Desired: 5 years or more experience

Certifications:

Required: Certified as a Sterile Processing Technician
Obtain Manager Sterile Processing Certification within 2 years
