Children’s Hospital of Michigan is an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Surgical services include general, thoracic, reconstructive and cardiovascular. Imaging technology designed specifically for children provides advanced diagnostic services including Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI. The Children’s Hospital of Michigan Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and dedicated pediatric burn center. Experts in pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, and neonatal and perinatal medicine provide care for thousands of children every year at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Children’s Hospital of Michigan - Troy and six ambulatory sites.
Summary:
Under general Supervision, and according to established policies and procedures performs secretarial and clerical duties within a department. Work is generally routine and of non-complex nature. Work is occasionally reviewed for completeness and accuracy.
1. Completes a wide range of typing tasks utilizing a standard word processing program. May utilize various special features to create documents. Composes short memos to internal contacts *
2.Utilizes a data base program to retrieve information or input data. May run standard reports utilizing the data base program *
3. Screens calls and responds to routine questions from internal or external contacts *
4. Responsible for opening, sorting and distributing mail. Scans mail and arranges in priority order. May handle confidential material or prepare payroll sheets for assigned area *
5. Maintains calendar and schedules tentative appointments for approval. May make travel arrangements for staff *
6. Maintains standard office and related departmental supplies, as needed. Prepares purchase orders and obtains necessary signatures for processing. Responsible for the safety and maintenance of own equipment *
7. Creates and maintains departmental filing system to ensure smooth retrieval of information *
8. May prepare and compile various reports utilizing different sources of information. Some basic mathematical calculations may be required.*
9. Follows established policies and procedures to meet minimum life safety standards of JCAHO/OSHA. Actively participates in all safety training * The essential functions of this job include but are not limited to those marked with an asterisk.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Two years of secretarial or progressively more responsible clerical experience.
