Summary Description

Oversees and directs operational, financial and personnel activities for DMC Parking and External Transportation Services which includes central campus parking services (shuttles, badging and valet services) and External transportation Services for Central Campus, Sinai-Grace (patient ambulances, vans, etc.), Huron Valley Sinai Hospital, and designated ambulatory sites.

Provides leadership in the identification and preparation for significant events and trends in ambulance technology, practices, and corporate policies.

Secures additional contracts through metro Detroit. Develops relationships with transportation companies in delivering successful outsourcing solutions for non-emergency transportation.

As assigned, participates as a member of the senior management team in the development of strategic plans for external transportation. Under the direction of Market Leader or site designee provides leadership in the identification of and preparation for significant events and trends in ambulance technology practices and corporate policy. Secures additional contracts through shuttle contractor.

Develops relationships with transportation companies in delivering successful outsourcing solutions for Medicaid non-emergency transportation.

Develops policies, long and short terms goals, objectives, and strategies for the contract administration function for ambulance services, monitoring operations to ensure goals are achieved.

Approves policies/procedures and/or seeks other system, regional and clinical service approval as appropriate. Ensures the development of Parking and External Transportation Service procedures/protocols and secures system approval, as necessary.

Oversees the development of Parking and External Transportation Service processes. Develops short to long range goals and measures and oversees the assessment of goal attainment.

Develops, seeks approval of, monitors and ensures compliance with budget for areas of responsibility. Acts as liaison between hospital operations and transportation vendors and oversees call center (contracted service) to receive and order system requests. Provides community education regarding the external patient transportation philosophy.

Monitors activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies and procedures.
As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations.

Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers. Ensures standardization with processes across the DMC Market.



Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.

2. Five or more years of experience in Parking and/or Transportation or related services in a health care setting.

Skills Required

1. Analytical ability to serve in an advisory/consultative role in determining and/or developing strategies, policies, processes, protocols, and methods, frequently in the absence of guidelines or technical assistance, and to evaluate and direct complex systems that foster innovative approaches to procedures/processes on a system-wide basis.
2. Communication and interpersonal skills for frequent contact with internal customers as well as stakeholders external to the DMC to persuade or negotiate on a wide range of subjects in situations which may be controversial, sensitive and/or lead to confrontation. A mastery of a variety of communication modalities is required to include leading meetings, making formal presentations, and writing complex documents and managing complex relationships over time.
3. Project management skills including the ability to define Support Services program, project, or process objectives, identify stakeholders and their interests, plan steps, coordinate and allocate human, technological, and fiscal resources to accomplish goals and objectives in a resourceful yet timely manner.
4. Leadership skills including demonstrated willingness to pursue leadership roles with increasing levels of accountability, comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, teaching and counseling skills, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others and to forge alliances
