DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai-Grace’s joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country. Sinai-Grace operates more than 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals in the nation to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to help set the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians throughout the nation.

Job Summary:

Under limited direction and according to established policies and procedures maintains 24 hour accountability for the security operations of hospital site; supervises security personnel, monitors quality and quantity of work flow to ensure work is completed, initiates or recommends personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, completes performance appraisals. As directed, drafts policy provisions and provides interpretation of function or department policies. Identifies the need for and drafts or defines procedures/protocols in collaboration with higher management input, goals and objectives, modifies procedures/protocols as necessary. Develops daily, monthly and/or yearly goals and measures for department. Assists in developing and monitoring budget for security department. Serves as liaison between Security Department and other departments and outside agencies in ensuring safety of patients, visitors and employees, physical facilities and the prevention of material loss. Supports the standards set forth in the DMC's Code of Conduct by creating an atmosphere of commitment to legal and ethical standards, and as directed, implementing external and internal audit recommendations. Monitors activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies and procedures. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.



Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, security management or a discipline requiring high levels of communication and analytical skill, or equivalent combination of education and/or related.

2. Three to five years progressively more responsible experience in security and/or law enforcement including at least three years at a supervisory or management level.
