DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai-Grace’s joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country. Sinai-Grace operates more than 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals in the nation to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to help set the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians throughout the nation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under limited supervision, maintains inventory of supplies, ensures maintenance and cleanliness of equipment, recommends use of most cost effective suppliers, and issues items to employees.

  1. Maintains an inventory of supplies, and orders supplies when needed.

  2. Arranges for maintenance and cleaning of equipment and department.

  3. Processes purchase orders and vendor invoices, verifies accuracy, secures approvals.

  4. Follows-up and expedites purchase, delivery and payment.

  5. Calculates price and quantity totals to ensure payment accuracy. Checks adjustments for quantity discounts.

  6. Contacts vendors to obtain competitive pricing and terms on items to be purchased. Screens vendor contacts in the Emergency Department. Exchanges information with vendor representatives and occasionally negotiates regarding prices and terms under which supplies will be provided.

  7. Researches vendors, analyses pricing and specifications to determine and compare costs, quality, delivery and other terms to obtain the best products or services at the least cost.

  8. Collects and reports statistical information.

  9. Assists in implementing special projects such as space modification or remodeling supply areas.

  10. Assigns or issues lockers, uniforms, and other similar items.

  11. Promotes guest relations; anticipates and responds to the needs of others; provides assistance in a courteous, quick manner; treats others with care and respect maintaining privacy, confidentiality and dignity. Qualifications:

1. Two-year college degree in an approved Medical Lab Technician program or equivalent.

2. Registry eligible or registered as a Medical Laboratory Technician with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, National Certifying Agency or equivalent.

3. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and medical software preferred.
