DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai-Grace’s joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country. Sinai-Grace operates more than 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals in the nation to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to help set the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians throughout the nation.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Maternal Program Manager (MPM) facilitates and implements the hospital’s Maternal Program Plan to align with the hospital specific and system Quality Assessment & Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives. The MPM regularly and actively participates in perinatal care at the hospital where program manager services are provided.

General Management:
1. Responsible for monitoring the provision of maternal services through all phases of care, to include operative interventions, transfer, or discharge, and identify variances of care inclusive of the QAPI Plan. Other oversight includes:
a. utilization of telehealth/telemedicine, if used.
2. Develop and maintain the Maternal Program Plan.
3. Lead the hospital’s Maternal QAPI meeting(s) and participate in other maternal meetings to include Women’s Council and hospital specific service line meetings as appropriate.
4. Collaborate with the Maternal Medical Director, neonatal program, consulting physicians and nursing leaders and units providing perinatal care to include developing, implementing or revising:
a. written policies, procedure and guidelines for perinatal care that are implemented and monitored for variances;
b. the Maternal QAPI Plan, specific reviews, and data initiatives;
c. criteria for transfer, consultation, or higher-level of care; and
d. staff competency, training and education.
5. Consistently review the perinatal care provided and ensure the Maternal QAPI Plan is specific to maternal and fetal care, is on-going, data driven, and outcome based.
6. Participate in Perinatal QAPI.
7. Represent the hospital at the Perinatal Care Region Meetings and develop collaborative relationships with other Maternal Program Managers of designated facilities within the Perinatal Care Region.

• Assists in development of competency plans and provides opportunities for learning

Department/Business Management:
• Participates in planning, developing, organizing and evaluation of the Maternal program for hospital.
• Coordinates and maintains Maternal Designation for the hospital.
• Assists with management of staff in collaboration with department leader/s.
• Assists with establishing protocols and/or guidelines in accordance with designating authority
• Develops collaborative relationships with departments to support quality perinatal care
• Assesses, implements, and evaluates maternal program orientation and educational programs for nursing staff in collaboration with educators and nurse managers
• Monitors perinatal patient care from L&D Admission through Operative Intervention(s), ICU, Stabilization, Post-partum and Discharge and enters in

Maternal PI Program.
• Maintains current knowledge of perinatal care
• Participates in regional organizations that support Perinatal system development
• Collaborates with local, regional entities involved in Perinatal Care
• Interacts with Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC) Regional Perinatal Committee
• Coordinates monthly maternal hospital meetings
• Coordinates education as related to perinatal care throughout the community
• Demonstrates dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in service; talks and acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers.
• Assures department and staff readiness for each and every patient
• Provides follow-up and resolution for identified problems
• Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
• Maintains safe environment
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities



Qualifications:

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree in Nursing

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Nursing

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 years’ experience in Perinatal bedside nursing
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years’ experience in a managerial role

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current State License for Registered Nurse.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Specialty or Administration certification desired.

REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): ACLS, BLS, NRP certified, Advanced Fetal Monitoring
