Description
The purpose of this position is to provide Imaging examinations to patients of all ages. Technologists demonstrate a working knowledge in two or more modalities. Must maintain current competencies for exams and related equipment in two or more modalities. Proficient in routine protocols and positions patients correctly using appropriate technical skills. Technologists access the patient’s condition, proficient in use of PACS, preparation of examination room, maintaining equipment and supplies. Technologists are required to maintain necessary patient records and participate in departmental Performance Improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- 1.Confidentiality is maintained. Special needs are communicated to physician immediately. Procedures are completed promptly, following policies. Documents are prepared according to established format. Documents are usually error free. Work is done within allowed time frames. Obtains patient data before procedure- DOB, age, and history. Explains procedure to be performed, facilitates patients’ cooperation and alleviates anxiety. Transfers patient to exam table; ensures proper covering of patient according to policy and procedure. Arranges, attaches, or adjusts immobilization and support devices according to procedure, ensuring limitation of patient movement. Assesses patient’s condition & determines proper breathing instructions and exposure factors. Selects proper film and places proper markers on cassettes with no more than 6 errors semiannually. Demonstrates satisfactory positioning and equipment knowledge; consistently produces radiographs of diagnostic quality. Utilizes proper Radiation Safety with patient, self, and others. Observes patient during procedure and reports any unusual occurrences or changes in patient’s condition to appropriate nursing personnel or physician. Completes all procedures scheduled during the shift without interference to the quality of work, coordinates schedule with other technologists to provide for a steady workflow. Always demonstrates working knowledge and proficiency with imaging equipment, including, but not limited to portables, c-arms, tomography, fluoroscopy, head unit, and general radiographic equipment. Evaluates and instructs students following the program’s policies to maintain accreditation and quarterly objectives. Is proficient with venipuncture.
- 2. Work area is usually clean and neat. Performs daily check of equipment, accessories and supplies. Equipment maintenance needs are reported per policy. Prepares and administers barium preparations & other contrast agents, or chemical mixtures with no more than 1 inaccurately prepared each year. Follows film badge policy. Follows radiation safety procedures for self and others. Practices aseptic techniques; strictly obeys isolation and infection control procedures using Universal Precautions.
- 3.Tasks are usually completed accurately and promptly. Desired information is retrieved from the selected module. Confidentiality is maintained. Hardware is maintained, maintenance needs reported appropriately. Supplies are usually available.
Qualifications

Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited Imaging Program. CT/MRI registry eligible.
Minimum Experience: 2 Years clinical experience in more than one modality. ARRT CT/MRI registry eligible required. ARRT CT or MRI preferred.
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: ARRT (R) and documentation of CT or MRI experience required, must obtain advance credential in CT or MRI within 1 year of employment. American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required, must be obtained within 7 days of hire. SCRQSA license is required.
