Nutrition Assistant – Full Time Rotating
Location: Abrazo Arrowhead Campus, 67th Ave & W Union Hills, Glendale, AZ
Position Summary
This is an entry-level role perfect for students, recent graduates, or individuals looking to start a rewarding career in nutrition, dietary services, or dietetics.
The Nutrition Assistant assists the kitchen in Food Service and provides direct and indirect patient care as delegated. Daily tasks include working in a diet office, answering the dining line service by assisting patient calls, assisting patients with menu selections, editing menus according to diet prescriptions, processing diet changes, maintaining census records, checking tray accuracy, and modifying menus based on patient preferences and dietary needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school graduate or GED equivalent (required)
Preferred Education: Nutrition courses (especially beneficial for those pursuing a career as a Dietitian or in dietary services)
Experience: No prior experience required; six months in dietary in a healthcare setting preferred
Certifications/Licensure:
- An unexpired Maricopa County Food Handler Card, or
- A valid card or certificate issued by an ANSI-accredited food handler training program, or
- A valid food handler card or certificate issued by another county within Arizona
Special Skills
- Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions in English
- Ability to prioritize work effectively
- Strong customer service skills
- Bilingual preferred
