Description
The individual in this position will assist in preparing, packaging, delivering, and charging of medication orders, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Includes the preparation of chemotherapy and hazardous drugs.

Position duties include the following activities:
• fill and label medications
• stock medications into pharmacy inventory
• restock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs)
• maintain adequate medication stock levels and proper storage of medications
• deliver medications to patient care areas
• attend to medication requests and phone calls
• prepare IV sterile admixture solutions and IV products. This will also include advanced compounding of chemotherapy and TPNs
• assist in Pharmacy quality assurance activities
• train and educate pharmacy technicians on department and hospital policies and procedures, quality assurance, and performance improvement processes
• comply and assure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission standards and Tenet and hospital policies and procedures
• assist pharmacists and Supervisors in performing various duties as assigned
• serve as a resource for pharmacy drug distribution functions
SPECIAL SKILLS: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional periods of above average pressure. Must have basic computer skills. Excellent customer service skills. Must be willing to work in all areas of the pharmacy services as assigned. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with team members required.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent GED
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program or pharmacy technician experience.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of hospital pharmacy experience or performance equivalent to 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred with training and experience in sterile (IV) compounding, including chemotherapy preparations. Good organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills, and basic computer skills preferred.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Licensed in the State of Arizona as a Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Technician certification.
