Lab Assistant Full Time Days Position Summary
Prepares solutions, labels tubes and specimen containers, collects specimens and performs simple tests under supervision. Performs routine technical and clerical functions. May operate simple lab equipment under supervision. Processes anatomic pathology and cytology specimens. Obtains blood specimens for all age groups serviced. Assists pathologists as needed. Uses, maintains and cleans laboratory equipment and uses protective equipment to protect form exposure to chemical, radiation and infectious hazards. Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures. Performs phlebotomist duties as assigned.
Special Skills: Computer skills and ability to work under deadlines. Requires a high degree of accuracy in various responsibilities and frequent contact with customers.
THE LAB ASSISTANT FULL TIME DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent GED
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Completion of a phlebotomy program.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Master ability to complete blood draws independently within six-weeks of hire.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Six months lab experience
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: CPR

Description
Responsible for the collections of blood specimens ensuring patient safety and consistency with age-specific considerations for all patients, neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, as well as employees. Performs clerical functions, processing duties, and training of students and employees. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
