Position Summary

Position performs activities related to transportation of patients as directed. Provides mail and messenger services, transports patients and delivers films and reports from department to department.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Proficiency in delivery of patients, films, reports etc. from department to department. Accountable and responsible for verification of proper patient identification before transporting a patient to the radiology department for testing. Follows proper protocol for filing and copying of films. Assist in radiology front office / reception work. 
  • Organization/Work Role: Assesses and prioritizes a rapidly changing workload. Completes work in a timely manner. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment. Shares responsibility for organizing supplies, tracking, stocking and storing equipment and keeping the department clean. Maintains a calm demeanor during busy or crisis situations. Asks for guidance or help when necessary.  
  • Professional: Actively participates in department management by providing input at meetings and reading communication. Practice is guided by knowledge of and adherence to current policies and procedures as well as standards of care. Uses policy and procedure manuals and other reference material to ensure proper course of action.  
  • Quality Improvement: Identifies, proposes solutions and assists in implementation of ideas for improvement in patient care and departmental / hospital operations. Participates in the successful implementation of change. Identifies opportunities and implements strategies to decrease waste in supplies and equipment. Assist in evaluation of new procedures, reagents and equipment. 
  • Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Special Skills: 
    • Must be able to work under deadlines.  
    • Must be able to utilize independent decision making skills in a wide variety of situations. 
    • Requires a high degree of accuracy in the performance of varied responsibilities.  
    • Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers.  
    • Must be self-motivated to complete work in a timely manner to meet deadlines. 
  • Minimum Requirements: 
    • Education: High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. 
    • Licensure/Certifications: CPR 
  • Preferred Requirements: 
    • Experience: Two years clinical experience, preferably in hospital radiology setting.
