JFK Memorial Hospital has provided medical care to residents in the Coachella Valley since 1966. A group of physicians, including Dr. Reynaldo Carreon, founded the hospital and today one of JFK’s cross streets is named in his honor.
Originally called Indio Community Hospital, JFK has grown to a 145-bed acute-care hospital that is part of Tenet Healthcare California. It offers a variety of services, including:

Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the Market Education Director, the Nursing Educator collaborates with facility/market nursing leadership and staff across departments to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate, and revise educational programming for all levels of nursing personnel and non-nursing personnel as indicated or requested. The educator acts as a key resource in the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff at Tenet Healthcare. The Nursing Educator implements a comprehensive education program for his/her assigned units while following and contributing to Tenet educational goals and vision. Educational programs typically include, but are not limited to, orientation, continuing education, and in-services. Other services may include, but are not limited to, process, performance and service-delivery consultation, and contributions to the organization through councils, committees, and workgroups
- Supports the educational needs for assigned units/clinics including classroom, clinical experiences, and learning technologies.
- Implements Tenet comprehensive education programs to meet the orientation and ongoing competency needs and professional development needs of the nursing staff, with specific focus for his/her units/clinics, which supports the Tenet model of professional nursing practice.
- Ensures all program/course revisions meet the Department of Nursing and regulatory expectations and standards.
- Adheres to national education practice standards and stays abreast of current research into nursing education practice. Programs are executed and revised based on adult learning principles, organizational, and learning theory consistent with Tenet endorsed philosophy and direction.
- Provides consultation to enhance continuing education, professional development opportunities and mentorship opportunities; delivers/coordinates other educational programs as directed (e.g., Grand Rounds, in-services, continuing education, job-specific and specialty curricula) to support competence and professional growth of Tenet nursing staff.
- Provides leadership to preceptors and serves as a role model through educational programs and ongoing coaching and mentoring.
- Serves as a facilitator to nurse residents and actively mentors and supports their growth in the profession and clinical practice.
- Participates in continuing education provider unit learning. Evaluates nursing education activities, which qualify for continuing education credit.
- Participates in activities to keep abreast of the changes to market/facility policies/procedures of the provider unit, and the expectations of the educator role.
- Assists in development of clinical policies and procedures as requested.
- Provides guidance, resources, and knowledge for professional growth of others.
- Mentors colleagues, other nurses, students, and others as appropriate. Participates in quality performance improvement activities.
- Assists in maintaining current accurate records of all classes, courses, and/or programs offered by the Education Department
- Monitors the completion and updating of all competencies
- Performs customer service related actions when in contact with patients and families
- Maintains CA BRN continuing education (CE) license and ensures facility remains BRN compliant with all classes attached to CEs
- Manages all student rotations within the facility—to include student schedules, coordination with each individual facility, development/maintenance of Affiliation Agreements, meetings with each school’s program coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current RN License
- BSN or Bachelor’s degree in related field-required
- Master’s degree, or degree in progress-preferred
- Current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider
- Current American Heart Association ACLS-main obtain within 90 days of hire
- Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience in acute care (i.e. Medical Surgical, Cardiac Telemetry, Intensive/Critical Care, Emergency Department)-required
- Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience-preferred
- Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership skills
Shift: Days
Hours: 8am- 5pm
• Ensures regulatory compliance with Title 22, TJC, and CMS
• Acts as a consultant on complex patient care
• Monitors and reviews results of performance improvement projects and assists in the presentation to the staff
• Ensures cost-effective use of resources
• Assists Nursing Leadership in evaluating program offerings
• Develops and implements hospital and community education programs as needed
• Demonstrates teaching/leadership skills using creativity, integrity, initiative, and communication
• Demonstrates ability to use basic audiovisual skills
• Assists in maintaining current accurate records of all classes, courses, and/or programs offered by the Education Department
• Monitors the completion and updating of all competencies
• Performs customer service related actions when in contact with patients and families
• Assists in the management of staff, to include evaluations, performance management, and mentoring
• Communicates with Department Leaders on new Corporate education initiatives and/or changes
• Develops, coordinates, implements new hire Clinical Orientation
• Coordinates with HR and Department Leaders for new hire Cerner training
• Maintains CA BRN continuing education (CE) license and ensures facility remains BRN compliant with all classes attached to CEs
• Manages all student rotations within the facility—to include student schedules, coordination with each individual facility, development/maintenance of Affiliation Agreements, meetings with each school’s program coordinator
• Provides Staff mentoring, growth, and development to include the development, coordination, and implementation of classes, meetings, and performance management goals (as determined with Department Leader)
• New Graduate RN program development, coordination, and implementation—to include didactic and clinically relevant training classes; schedule coordination for each new graduate RN, mentorship and follow-up with each individual RN
• Rapid Response Team (RRT) program development, coordination, and implementation—to include didactic and clinically relevant training classes; schedule coordination for each RRT RN, mentorship and follow-up with each individual RRT RN; provides direct oversight/supervision of the RRT RNs and the RRT program/hospital response in collaboration with the CNO
• Remains accessible to all Department Leaders to assist in addressing clinical issues, i.e. chart review
• Develops, coordinates, and implements annual core competencies for clinical Staff (outside of what each Department Leader does individually, these would be competencies that are required from a regulatory perspective, i.e. Standardized Procedures)
• Develops, reviews, edits facility policies as needed
• Participates in Desert Care Network education collaboratives
Qualifications
1. Current RN License
2. BSN or Bachelor’s degree in related field-required

Pay Range: $97,760 - $151,840 **Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience ***Calculated based on a full time position
