JFK Memorial Hospital has provided medical care to residents in the Coachella Valley since 1966. A group of physicians, including Dr. Reynaldo Carreon, founded the hospital and today one of JFK’s cross streets is named in his honor.

Originally called Indio Community Hospital, JFK has grown to a 145-bed acute-care hospital that is part of Tenet Healthcare California. It offers a variety of services, including:
•Emergency care 24/7
•Orthopedic and joint replacement services using emerging technology
•Cardiovascular services
•Maternity care and pediatric services
•Ambulatory surgery center
•Imaging services
•Outpatient Rehabilitation Center

POSITION SUMMARY

To provide oversight to the hospital-wide Performance Improvement Program, ensure hospital-wide compliance with Federal, State and local regulations, and ensures hospital-wide compliance with The Joint Commission standards. Provides oversight to Risk Management, Quality Management, and Clinical Quality Outcomes Program, Medical Staff Peer Review, and C2Q and core measure activities. To work collaboratively with Medical Staff Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

a Oversees the creation, review, and refinements of the scope of the Patient Safety Program within the facility on an annual basis which includes ongoing assessment of climate of patient safety in the organization.

  • Integrates patient safety function within the organization quality management program.
  • Oversees the activity of the patient safety function within the organization including but not limited to: Investigates with risk management function patient safety issues within the facility. Facilities or participates in Root Cause Analysis-Intense
  • Analysis of issues, proactive risk assessment strategies across services to identify and mitigate patient safety risks.
  • Coordinates communication between stakeholders in the organization from staff to Board members related to patient safety activities and initiatives.
  • Oversees the management and use of medical errors information. Reviews internal error data and information from external best practice organization and evaluates use of technology in driving initiatives.
  • Develops a mechanism for internal communication of patient safety issues within a non-punitive work environment.
  • Designs and implements education presentations to key stakeholders in the organization on patient safety issues, improvement techniques, and activity in external environment.
  • Serves as expert to departments in developing reliable delivery of care methodologies that incorporate best practice patient safety methodologies.
  • Supports the development of a recognition program aimed at improving patient safety.
  • Establishes process for patient and family engagement in the patient safety systems of the organization.
  • Develops and manages budget related to patient safety activities in the organization.
  • Ensures data for decision making for patient safety is robust in terms of rigor and representative of the systems being examined.

Qualifications

  • Current California Registered Nurse License or B.A. in related Health Care field.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) - preferred
  • Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP) - preferred
  • 4 to 5 years experience in Acute Care Facility
  • Knowledgeable as evidenced by completion of courses in The Joint Commission Standards, CMS and Title 22 Regulations, Safety/Risk Management, Infection Control, Performance Improvement, Medical Staff Services functions.
  • Evidence of completion of Management/Leadership Education and/or experience.
  • Exhibits computer operational skills and understanding of database systems.
  • Ability to interpret and process data in an analytical manner.
  • Must demonstrate understanding of current trends in quality and cost management.
  • Must be able to work as a "Change Agent" to motivate relevant constituencies to enthusiastically embrace change as required by clinical re-engineering initiatives.

Pay Range: $135,200 - $216,320 **Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience ***Calculated based on a full time position
