Perinatal Ultrasound Tech for Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists

Summary
Prepares patients for examination and performs obstetric and gynecological ultrasound exams as directed by the physicians.
Responsibilities
Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources. Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement. Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policies that affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner. Understands and practices proper operation of ultrasound imaging equipment by evidence of observation and / or image documentation. Explains exam procedures to patient, instruct and assist patient into position for exam. Performs ultrasounds applicable to Maternal Fetal Medicine practice, including first trimester ultrasounds, NT, detailed anatomy ultrasounds in the second and third trimester, complete ultrasounds, follow-up ultrasounds, transvaginal cervical ultrasound according to CLEAR, Fetal and Maternal Doppler studies, BPP, and 3D reformatting and rendering. Assists the physician during invasive diagnostic testing procedures such as an amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. Ability to perform guidance for amniocentesis, chronic villus sampling, and other invasive/diagnostic procedures commonly performed. Creates reports as required for the exam. Implements safety procedures for patients, self, and staff. Maintains and clean ultrasound equipment and room. Ensures all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Orders supplies and monitor inventory. Handle physician requests in a timely manner. Assists with other clinical functions as directed.
Education
Required: Graduate of an approved school of nuclear medicine and registered or registry eligible as Ultrasound Technician. High school diploma/GED and Completion of approved Ultrasound Tech program
Experience
Required: 3 years of experience in OBGYN setting and knowledge of patient care methods, procedures, and techniques.
Certifications
Required: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers certification, OBGYN Certification and Fetal Echocardiography Certification, NTQR Certification for Nuchal Translucency/Nasal bone. CPR certification.
Preferred: CLEAR Certification for Cervical Length.
