Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department.  Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

GENERAL DUTIES:
To maintain, repair and calibrate medical equipment and other specialized equipment which involves radio frequency and computer techniques, to assure safe and effective equipment for use in treatment, diagnosis and therapy of patients. Act as a technical resource to other technicians and to employees throughout the hospital. Engineering department is a full service department providing utilities on 24 hour basis.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on medical equipment as assigned
• Responsible for complying with these regulatory agencies:
1) TJC, 2) OSHPD, 3) SCAQMD, 4) NFPA, 5) Title 22 & 24, 6) NEC, 7) Cal OSHA, 8) UBC 90
• Consistently follows manufacture recommendations and departmental procedures while evaluating or repairing equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance and periodic safety inspections on all Bio-Medical equipment as required by TJC and state regulations.
• Routinely removes equipment from service for repair and calibration, as required.
• Accurately documents all work performed on a P.M. or Demand Service Work Order Form, immediately after completing the task.
• Performs incoming inspections on new, trial, and loaned, medical equipment as assigned.
• Following departmental procedures, assigns control numbers and fills out new equipment documentation.
• Consistently demonstrates responsibility for the inspection of all medical equipment and instruments, ensuring safety and physical integrity.
• At time of inspection, consults with other Bio-Medical Technicians or Supervisor as to the proper operation and safety requirements on unfamiliar equipment.
• Consistently attentive to record keeping and documentation of work performed and required paperwork required for the job.
• Demonstrates level of job knowledge and competency.
• Demonstrates the ability to read equipment schematics and instruction.
• Demonstrates the ability to accurately and properly use test equipment, leakage testers and safety meters.
• Routinely reads textbooks, equipment service manuals, departmental policies, or consults with other Technicians to increase level of skills and knowledge related to the job performance.
Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
Basic electronics and 2 yrs. hospital experience.


Preferred:
A.A. degree, AAMI certification and hospital experience.

Pay range: $23.09 Minimum - $31.02 Maximum an hour

Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.
