CVOR Rad Tech Full Time Days Position Summary
A Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Radiologic Technologist plays a crucial role in the surgical team by providing imaging support during cardiovascular procedures. Their responsibilities require both technical skill and a solid understanding of sterile technique and cardiovascular anatomy.
CVOR Radiologic Technologist Responsibilities
1. Intraoperative Imaging Support
- Operate C-arm fluoroscopy, portable X-ray, or other imaging equipment during procedures.
- Ensure proper positioning and imaging to assist the surgical team in visualizing anatomy and device placement.
- Maintain image quality while minimizing radiation exposure to patient and staff (ALARA principle).
2. Equipment Management
- Prepare, calibrate, and troubleshoot radiologic equipment before and during surgery.
- Monitor equipment functionality to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and report any malfunctions.
3. Sterile Technique & OR Protocol
- Adhere to sterile field practices while maneuvering imaging equipment in the OR.
- Work closely with surgeons, scrub techs, and circulating nurses to coordinate safe imaging during critical phases of the procedure.
4. Radiation Safety
- Implement radiation safety protocols for staff and patients.
- Monitor and track radiation doses.
- Educate OR personnel on proper use of protective equipment (e.g., lead aprons, thyroid shields).
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Document imaging performed and maintains patient records according to hospital policies.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, OSHA, and hospital standards.
- Assist in audits and quality improvement initiatives related to imaging services.
6. Pre- and Post-Operative Duties
- Assist in patient positioning and imaging prep before procedures.
Perform post-operative imaging as required by the surgical or cardiology team
THE CVOR RAD TECH FULL TIME DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Completion of formal two-year radiologic technology training in AMA approved school which meets requirements for registry by the ARRT or equivalent on-the-job training including a minimum of four months orientation.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Current Arizona Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-CV). Current BLS
REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING: Must attend EKG, Hemodynamics, IABP classes within four months of hire.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: ACLS
SPECIAL SKILLS: Demonstrated critical thinking skills to be able to pass orientation.
