Laboratory Manager Full Time Days Position Summary
Single or multi-department management of operations. Manages day to day operations. Directs, supervises, orients/trains and evaluates staff. Enforces policies, procedures and standards of operation. Position has budgetary or fiscal accountability. The Laboratory Clinical Manager performs and demonstrates proficiency and understanding of all areas of the clinical laboratory as well as instructing and mentoring other personnel. They also perform with perceptive depth clinical laboratory tests and procedures requiring the expertise of independent judgment and responsibility. They assure the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times and ensure smooth operation of the department. Position is responsible for approving timekeeping, maintaining staffing, meets applicable regulatory standards, approves supply orders and department strategic planning.
Special Skills: Demonstrates professional development over time. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively implement change and manage departmental budgets. Must be able to independently make decisions in high-stress situations. Reports directly to department director. Computer skills preferred.
Supervises: Laboratory staff.
THE LABORATORY MANAGER FULL TIME DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related Health Science Specialty. Meets CLIA requirements for General Supervisor.
PREFFERED EDUCATION: Masters in Allied Health Specialty or Health Administration or Business.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years of progressive supervisory experience in an acute care facility
REQUIRED CERIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Registered in accordance with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or equivalent).
