Sterile Processing Tech FT Days Position Summary

Provides services in the decontamination and sterile processing areas whenever monitoring of sterilizers is needed. Collaborates with OR staff to provide sterile instruments and equipment needed for operative procedures. Assists with ongoing inventory of sterile supplies, equipment, schedule completion and communication for the department. Position performs duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision. Call may be required for this position – must reside within a 30 minute call time of the facility.

Special Skills: Ability to read in English to follow oral and/or written instructions. Must perform repetitive duties on a daily basis, be detail minded and organized. Must be self-motivated and able to coordinate and prioritize workload in order to complete work and meet daily deadlines. Ability to adapt to changes in workload and flexibility to adjust work scheduled as assigned. Ability to communicate effectively with customers. Knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques. Thorough knowledge of instrumentation, equipment and supplies.

THE STERILE PROCESSING TECH FT DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

Preferred Education:

High school or equivalent preferred to enable individual to follow oral and written instruction in English.

Completion of a formal Sterile Processing Technician course with field training.

Preferred Experience:

One year of Central Sterile, decontamination or sterile processing in an acute care hospital.

Required Certifications: BLS.

Preferred Certification:

Current certification through internationally recognized organizations such as IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management) or Certification Board for Central Sterile Processing.
