Histology Technologist II PRN Days Position Summary
Performs various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologist. Performs more complex techniques such as enzyme chemistry and immuno histo chemistry.
Responsibilities
Prepares microscopic tissue slides for diagnostic/research purposes; performs tissue stains to assist in diagnosis; handles specimen accessioning; maintains laboratory and equipment. Reviews quality control, performs operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of histology instruments and equipment. Will provide supervision and technical direction to Histology Technician, as requested.
THE HISTOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST II PRN DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

Education/Other Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Bachelor's or Associates degree in an NCCLS-approved Histology Technician program required.
Minimum Experience:2 year of experience as Histotechnologist required.
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: HT ASCP certification preferred. MT /MLT with ASCP and job related experience acceptable. Current non-certified Histotechnologist, who are employed by Piedmont Medical Center, are encouraged to acquire certification.
