Sierra Vista is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and has been serving the community since 1959.

Position Summary:

The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator (EPC) reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator assists, supports and plans for the staff education and readiness training, including support in executing emergency preparedness drills in collaboration with other departments, county and state entities. Provides necessary project management and support for hospital Emergency Preparedness Plan, and support for emergency preparedness subcommittees as needed. Participates with internal and external task forces, committees and agencies regarding emergency preparedness. Works with supervisor to ensure that all Joint Commission standards for Emergency Management Standards are met.
The EPC is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Emergency/Disaster Preparedness program including: Ensuring plans and policies are written, maintained, and updated; ensuring required training is carried out and documented; attending necessary meetings within the hospital and in the community; collaborating with SLO County healthcare partners; and demonstrating leadership/oversight of the Emergency Preparedness Committee.

Knowledge & Skills:

Required Training/Education/Experience/Certification:


Bachelor's in Emergency Management or related subject, such as Healthcare Administration, Nursing, etc.
Minimum of 5 years experience in Emergency Management, or related field such as healthcare, EMS, or Fire Service
Knowledge, experience, and training with the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
ICS training 100, 200, 700 and 800; Experience and training in the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Trainer/educator experience required.

Strong leadership, written and communication skills; ability to work in fast-paced environment with operational problem-solving/decision making experience.

Knowledge of computers: MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel and other applications.

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

Preferred qualifications:
Licensed Registered Nurse or Paramedic.
Certifications: Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) from the Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI); and Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) from the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM).

Pay Range: $40.89 - $63.37 hourly
