Responsibilities:

The following are essential job accountabilities:

  1. Demonstrates proficient computer skills. Hospital knowledge of EMR. Administrator of the Muse system. Performs daily weekly audits of multiple computer systems within the department.
  2. Processes all EKGs within the Muse system, attaches the accession orders which transmit intothe patients EMR. 
  3. Accountable for all charges within the Hospitals EMR for Cardiology and EEG procedures. Correlates charges with Muse Electrocardiograms, and all other testing with the Hospitals charging system. Makes corrections on credits, charges and date changes necessary for accuracy. Reports to the Manager chronic double orders or charges. Audits orders within the Emergency room.
  4. Assists the Scheduler with scheduling patients. Ability to cover the Scheduler during their vacation. 
  5. Arrives patients in the Scheduling system, puts orders in EMR. 
  6. Performs EKGs on all age specific patients in all departments. 
  7. Assists with the setup of EEG, Treadmill Stress tests, Pharmacological Stress Test, Holter setup and Tilt Table studies in a timely and competent manner, making adjustment to level placement and equipment based on age specific needs of each patient. 
  8. Completes physician reports with the necessary information on all tests done in the department with faxing reports to the ordering physician. 
  9. Ability to know when to notify the nurse of the abnormal reading of the EKG when thereis documentation of “Abnormal Acute Findings” on the computerized interpreted EKG. 
  10. Schedules all in-patients with Nuclear Medicine, Physicians and Nurses. Gives the inpatients necessary information for the Nuclear test. 
  11. Faxes all peri-operative Electrocardiograms to the referring Physician prior to the official reading and after the official reading. 
  12. Responsible for printing face sheet demographics and attaching the order from Cerner for the reading Physician.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent 

Minimum Experience/Skills: 

  • Two (2) years hospital experience
  • EKG experience and/or Certificate preferred or EKG Certificate within 6 months of hire/ transfer
  • Excellent Computer skills
  • Knowledge of Medical terminology
  • Insurance knowledge 

Licenses/Certificates/Credentials: 

  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA certified)

Position Summary:

Responsible as an Administrator for the EKG Muse system, performing multiple computer skills and the maintaining of patients files. Ability to perform Electrocardiograms and assist with EEG, Holter Monitors, Treadmill Stress Tests, Pharmacological Stress Test, Tilt Tables, to assigned age specific patient population (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics). Answers phones, communicates well with patients, physicians and all staff members. Multi-tasking computer skills required. Schedules patient’s appointment using the hospital’s scheduling system. Responsible for inputting charges for the Cardiology and EEG department. Responsible for ordering of department supplies for Cardiology and EEG. Maintain the cleaning of equipment and EKG carts held in Cardiology, Emergency Room and the ASC. Medical terminology is necessary. BLS certified. Participates in hospital related continuing education as required by the facility and or license.
