Position Summary:
Plan, implement, provide, evaluate, and monitor Medical Nutrition Therapy for patients. Provide leadership and supervision for Dietitians and Diet Office personnel. Provide advice to the CEO as needed. Responsible for compliance with regulatory agency requirements. Responsible for Department operations in the absence of the Food and Nutrition Services Director.
1. Demonstrates knowledge of, and adheres to all applicable professional and regulatory practices, State and Federal regulations, Policies and Procedures of San Ramon Regional Medical Center, and Tenet Corporation.
2. Direct, monitor, and assure that quality Medical Nutrition Therapy is provided to all patients. This includes screenings, assessments, and reassessments, care plans, and nutrition education for inpatients and outpatients. Includes individualized care for range of multicultural / educational backgrounds as well as throughout the lifestyle.
3. Assures that the rights of all patients are respected with dignity, with privacy and confidentiality provided at all times.
4. Develop, maintain, and update the policies relating to clinical nutrition care to meet the requirements of JCAHO, and Title 22. Develop policies with nursing and pharmacy on food-drug interactions. Collaborate with the Food and Dietary Services Director on other sections as requested.
5. Committed to increasing patient satisfaction, insuring commitments to patients are met.
6. Responsible for Department operations in the absence of the Food and Nutrition Services Director.
7. Keep Diet Office and Dietitians updated on new departmental policies and changes.
8. Assist in the implementation of departmental changes and new procedures.
9. Interview, select, assign, evaluate, orient and discipline Dietitians, Diet Technicians, and Diet Clerks.
10. Develop and update job descriptions and task lists for Dietitians, Diet Technicians, and Diet Clerks.
11. Assist the Food and Dietary Services Director with the development of staffing patterns for Dietitians and Diet Office personnel that maximize the productivity of staff. Create and maintain monthly schedule for Dietitians, Diet Technicians and Diet Clerks within budgetary guidelines.
12. Responsible for Dietitian and Diet Office organization and efficiency. Manage time keeping using KRONOS payroll system. Assign clinical staff to attend outside educational programs to update clinical skills within budgetary guidelines. Update the clinical staff on computer changes.
13. Organizes and prioritizes workload to achieve key goals.
14. Develop, implement, and coordinate patient performance improvement and continued quality improvement programs. Report goals and findings to Performance Improvement Council. Train staff in performance improvement and take action on appropriate suggestions for improvement.
15. Manage the planning and processing of patient meals. In conjunction with the Food and Dietary Services Director assist in the development of new menus and production sheets, plan basic menus considering availability of foods, patient preferences, nutrient content, and food costs within the limits of established policies. Develop and update nutritional analysis of patient menus. Assure adherence to specifications, observing appearance, quantity, quality and temperature. Work with Cooks to establish appropriate portion sizes and proper utilization of all food supplies.
16. Makes good decisions in a timely manner, considering the impact of the decisions. Provides the Food and Dietary Services Director with useful feedback and advice to the CEO as needed.
17. Establish and maintain effective communication and cooperation between departments to achieve patient care goals.
18. Create, update, improve, and approve all patient menus. Coordinate printing to assure adequate supply. Assist in the creation of holiday menus for patients and educate staff on usage for all diets.
19. Assist with the development of and conduct in-service education meetings for staff both within and outside the department.
20. Keeps up to date with new developments in the field of nutrition.
21. Order / develop / assist in the development of nutrition education materials.
22. Coordinate with the Director of Volunteer Services on the placement and usage of volunteers for the department.
23. Accountable for maintaining a good record of attendance and punctuality, coding to different departments when appropriate by use of the Oops form.
24. Participate in Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and Forms Committee as requested and / or relevant.
25. Attends mandatory TENET ethics program. Conducts all hospital business within the highest standard of ethical behavior. Complies with San Ramon Regional Medical Center Policies and Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State Regulation.
26. Able to remain balanced and even-tempered in challenging situations. Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards.
27. Expresses and accepts feedback in a professional manner. Demonstrates flexibility and open-mindedness.
28. Maintains required departmental in-service requirements and staff meetings. Independently completes EDU requirements prior to due date. Ensures that the Diet Office and Dietitians remain up-to-date on these as well.
29. Demonstrates prudent resource management, protecting hospital resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and equipment.
30. Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the professional environment.
31. Completes .edu’s and other required hospital education by the due date.
32. Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards.
33. Complies with San Ramon Regional Medical Center Policies/Procedures protecting patient information and the confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State regulations.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
College degree in Dietetics and Food Administration or Nutritional Science
Minimum Experience/Skills:
Two years within the past 6 years as a Registered Dietitian, 1 year in the past 6 years as the Chief Clinical Dietitian or Clinical Nutrition Manager
Fluent in written and spoken English
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with patients, caregivers, physicians, and staff
Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
Current Registered Dietitian License
ServSafe Manager Certification or equivalent (must obtain within 3 months of hire/ transfer)

Pay Range: $97,760 - $151,840 **Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience ***Calculated based on a full time position
