Position Summary:
Produces and creates cardiovascular diagnostic ultrasound digital images. Sonographer utilizes a variety of technical modalities and specific procedures for ultrasound diagnosis. Responsible for patient care and their safety. Assists physicians during procedures. Assumes responsibility for job related procedures and equipment. Participates in department orientation of new staff members. Demonstrates the ability to perform studies on pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics patients. Performs all types of Cardiac Stress testing, Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor, Holter monitor, Holter monitor scanning, Tilt Tables, Transesophageal Echocardiograms, Echocardiograms, and Electrocardiograms. Has the knowledge to report full diagnostic reports using the Cardiology Pac’s system, The Case 8000, Muse system and the EMR. Performs Electroencephalograms under the supervision of the Neurologist. Works cooperatively with members of the health care team to maintain standards of professional Cardiovascular Ultrasound studies, Cardiac testing and Electroencephalograms in the clinical setting. On call required
Position Accountabilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1. Performs clinical Cardiovascular diagnostic ultrasound procedures as ordered by the physicians;
positions appropriately; selects correct transducer; adjusts technical factors depending on depth of field
or organ to be scanned; obtains adequate images and labels images appropriately. Demonstrates
proficiency in all forms of ultrasound involving Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography, StressEcho
Dobutamine, and Transesophageal studies.
2. Responsible for:
a. Echocardiograms
b. Stress Echocardiograms
c. Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms
d. Transesophageal Echocardiograms
e. Tilt Tables
f. Electrocardiograms
g. Definity Contrast Studies
h. Agitated Saline studies
i. Cardiac Stress Tests
j. Nuclear Stress Tests
k. Pharmacological Stress Tests
l. Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor
m. Holter Monitor set up
n. Holter Monitor scanning
o. Intravenous insertion
p. Electroencephalogram
3. Transports medications between the pharmacy and the cardiology department.
4. Schedules patients as necessary. Explains procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum
tests results; re-schedule patients as necessary.
5. Performs IV therapy, Agitated Saline Bubble Studies and Definity Contrast procedures competently,
independently and without supervision.
6. Maintains ultrasound service in accordance with the guidelines established by the Cardiology
Department, and performs diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasound examinations according to predetermined protocols as set forth by the Cardiologist, Technical Director and the Cardiac Service
Director.
7. Responsible for the proper utilization of existing equipment and reporting repair problems promptly to the
Technical Director.
8. Maintains proper records. Performs all necessary measurements and calculations prior to presentation
of the study to the reading cardiologist.
9. Follows departmental directives in accordance with job functions.
10. Performs and/or participates in the Cardiology services Process Improvement, Quality Assurance,
Quality Control and other activities as may be required.
11. Conforms, performs and/or participates in all mandated and/or voluntary programs of the Cardiology
services to comply with the provisions of JCAHO, DHS, and any regulatory agency requirements.
12. Verbalizes and/or demonstrates knowledge of clinical information and practices essential to assuming
provision of age-specific care from neonate to geriatrics.
13. Ability to take call weekends and after hours.
14. Performs Electroencephalograms under the supervision of the Neurologist.

certification requirements with the ARDMS/ARDCS/CCI.
11. Works appropriately with the scope of his/her license and/or position authority.
12. Demonstrates initiative and creativity in assigned work, consistently attempting to make things work better.
13. Performs work in an honest and ethical manner with sensitivity to those affected by the decisions made.
14. Actively listens to the point of view of subordinates, and acts appropriately on the information received.
15. Completes learnshare assignments and other required hospital education by the due date.
16. Adheres to SRRMC Behavior Standards.
17. Complies with San Ramon Regional Medical Center Policies/Procedures protecting patient information and the
confidentiality of the information in accordance with the Federal and State regulations.\
18. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Ultrasound program
Minimum Experience/Skills:
One (1) year of recent clinical experience in ultrasound in an acute care setting
Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
Current BLS certification for Healthcare providers (AHA certified)
Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification (ARDMS)
Effective January 1, 2015 Technologist must possess RDCS or CCI certification within six (6) months of hire/transfer

Pay Range: $49.69 - $77.02 hourly **Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience
