Position Summary:

Reporting to the Cardiology Supervisor and the Director of Cardiac/Pulmonary Services, the EEG Technologist performs standard and complex routine and sleep deprived EEG for all ages. Provides maintenance of equipment and supplies. Files and stores test data and reports. Services are provided to patients of all ages. Other technical and clerical duties are performed as required.

General Accountabilities:          

The following are essential job functions and accountabilities. 

  1. Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital’s guest relations’ policies and programs by initiating and maintaining positive relations with patients, patient families, visitors, medical staff members and other employees of SRRMC, regardless of age, cultural or ethnic backgrounds. 
  2. Understands and adheres to hospital requirements for the assessment and provision of care which considers the personal, cultural, spiritual and/or ethnic beliefs of patients. 
  3. Assures that the rights of all patients are respected and maintained by allowing for privacy, confidentiality, and dignity in the provision of service. 
  4. Demonstrates the ability to follow the Target 100 Standards and “key words at key times” scripting as identified in the Standards booklet 
  5. Maintains current professional licenses and/or certifications as and when required by state, regulatory agency, or hospital mandate. 
  6. Demonstrates knowledge of, and adheres to, all applicable professional/regulatorypractice acts, state/federal regulations, and policies and procedures San Ramon Regional Medical Center (SRRMC) and TENET CORPORATION, including JCAHO, Title XXII and requirements of other regulatory agencies, as applicable. 
  7. Identifies patients at risk for abuse and/or neglect, as well as associated signs and symptoms. Adheres to mandatory reporting requirements for healthcare professionals per Administrative Policy & Procedure. 
  8. Practices Universal Precautions while providing care and performing other hospital services.
  9. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to safely and appropriately fulfill job specific responsibilities related to safety, security, emergency preparedness, control of hazardous materials/waste, life safety, medical equipment, and utility systems as outlined in the hospital’s environment of care plan. Observes safety precautions to ensure a safe environment for patients, patient families and guests of all ages. 
  10. Actively supports the organization’s mission, vision, values and goals. Participates in activities within the organization that support performance improvement. 
  11. Attends mandatory TENET ethics program. Conducts all hospital business within the highest standard of ethical behavior and adheres to and promotes Tenet’s Corporate Integrity Program, in accordance with established Administrative Policy & Procedure. 
  12. Meets current hospital standards as defined by the San Ramon Regional Medical Center Employee Handbook and the hospital’s Administrative Policy and Procedure Manual. 
  13. Meets the age-specific clinical, interpersonal and interactive responsibilities, as outlined inthe Human Resources Policy and Procedure, “Age-Specific Interpersonal and Interactive Relationships”. 
  14. Meets State of California standards by completing an annual TB test during the established time frame, in accordance with Doctors Medical Center’s established TB testingschedule. 
  15. Reviews the job description with the designated supervisor during the annualperformance appraisal and recommends changes, as necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

Minimum Education: High School graduate or equivalent Graduation from EEG/EP training program preferred

Minimum Experience/Skills: 

  • Minimum of two (2) years recent experience required; 
  • Substantial knowledge of neuro-diagnostic procedures and the performance of these procedures in an acute hospital setting are required
  • Must be familiar with anatomy, neuro-anatomy, and neuro-physiology, patient and hospital personnel ethics
  • Must be able to provide services to severely ill, mentally, and physically handicapped persons of all age groups
  • Must be able to coordinate work assignments and establish priorities and work under stressful situations

Licenses/Certificates/Credentials: American Board of Registration of EEG Technologists preferred

Pay Range: $38.94 - $60.36 hourly **Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience
