Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an accredited program in Respiratory Care
  • Three (3) years recent experience in all phases of acute Respiratory Care preferred
  • Must possess excellent assessment skills to floor therapy and patients on mechanical ventilators
  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner License issued by the Respiratory Care Board of California
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Respiratory Department Manager, the Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for demonstrating proficiency in the use/operation of respiratory equipment and provision of respiratory treatment to assigned age specific patient population (e.g. infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics) and participates in related continuing education. Provides care to assigned patients according to professional standards and established procedures, using good judgment and personal initiative. Administers medication as prescribed by a physician and performs the drawing and analysis of blood gasses. Other duties assigned as per scope of practice.
