Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required;
Graduate from an accredited nursing school Bachelors in Nursing degree preferred.
Minimum Experience/Skills:
Minimum of three (3) year recent work experience in an acute care setting required;
Minimum of one (1) year recent experience in a Perioperative setting preferred;
Minimum of two (2) years recent work experience in endoscopy preferred;
Minimum of two (2) years recent work experience in a pre-op/pre-admission and testing setting preferred;
Minimum of two (2) years recent work experience in administering and monitoring patients receiving moderate sedation; or, must successfully complete unit specific competencies within three (3) months of hire/transfer;
Must successfully complete unit specific competencies in Endoscopy and Pre-Admit Testing within three (3) months of hire/transfer.
Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
Current California Registered Nurse licensure;
Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA certified);
Current ACLS certification (AHA certified);
Current PALS certification (AHA certified);
Certification in specialty preferred.

Summary
Provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Responsible for the preoperative/preprocedural preparation of patients including baseline assessment, skin preparation as required, and completion of the surgical checklist. Responsible for Phase II recovery of surgical patients including monitoring of physiological status, surgical wound care and discharge teaching. When On-Call, must report within 30 minutes.
