Position Summary

The Histology Technologist receives and accurately processes surgical, diagnostic tissue, and body fluid specimens from various hospital departments and physician offices. Surgical specimen processing includes, but is not limited to accessioning, processing, embedding, microtomy, special stains, IHC, cytology processing, and assisting with FNA collection. The Histotechnologists ensure the quality and integrity of specimens throughout the entire processing.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of Histology procedures on tissue and body fluids, using automated equipment and manual methods.
  • Documentation meets current standards and policies. Performs quality control for the Department.
  • Demonstrates competency in use of standard precautions, safety practices and waste management of materials used and produced in the dept.
  • Performs special staining, Frozen sections, Cytology processing.
  • Interacts with Customers, Patients, and Physicians in and outside facility.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree 
     

EXPERIENCE

  • 0-2 yrs
     

LICENSE

  • HISTOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST LICENSE REQUIRED
