Description
DMC Sinai-Grace Hospitalis DMC’s largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai-Grace’s joint replacement program features a revolutionary minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients from all over the country. Sinai-Grace operates more than 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals in the nation to be awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to help set the standards of cardiac care for hospitals and physicians throughout the nation.
Summary Description
Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, works as a member of the healthcare team to provide pastoral care on an interfaith basis to patients, their families and hospital staff.
Provides sacramental ministry as appropriate. Accepts and makes referrals for care.
Documents inpatient records as appropriate and submits written documentation to management as required.
Facilitates the ministry of community clergy to their hospitalized parishioners by orienting them to the hospital, clarifying policies and procedures as needed, and supporting their ministry at the hospital.
Carries out other duties as assigned. Attends special staff meetings and peer support programs as scheduled.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
1. Completion of one Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (or the equivalent).
2. Completion of graduate degree in divinity, theology, religion or pastoral ministry (or the equivalent).
3. Member in good standing in a recognized faith community.
Skills Required
1. Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively provide pastoral care to patients, families and hospital staff from a wide variety of religious and cultural backgrounds.
2. Technical knowledge of the objectives and techniques of spiritual care.
