DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan is one of the nation’s largest hospitals specializing in rehabilitation medicine and research. RIM is known for its clinical expertise in spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputee, orthopedics and catastrophic injury care. The Institute houses the Center for Spinal Cord Injury Recovery and the Southeastern Michigan Traumatic Brain Injury System (SEMTBIS), one of only 16 federally designated model systems of care for brain injury care and research. RIM also operates 31 outpatient sites throughout southeast Michigan specializing in sports medicine and orthopedics.
Job Summary
In collaboration with the Manager of Health, Fitness and Wellness, coordinates and implements the health, fitness and wellness programming for the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. Oversees the professional/clinical activities of fitness center trainers. Monitors the scheduling, quality, and quantity of work flow of the fitness staff. Initiates or recommends personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. Completes performance appraisals for the fitness trainer interns. Functions as the fitness liaison for all DMC health and wellness initiatives at the DMC Wellness Center. Monitors activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations JCAHO requirements, and DMC policies and procedures. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Health and Fitness Management, Community Health, Health Education, or the equivalent. Masters degree preferred.
- Two to five years experience in the Fitness/Healthcare Industry with progressively more responsible related experience in health and wellness. At least one year of leadership experience required.
- Current license, registration and/or certification as applicable.
